Our future is tied to the ocean. Its shared seas connect us through food, culture and sport. The home of amazing, abundant life, it’s also a powerful climate solution. Yet the practice of bottom trawling threatens to destroy this precious resource—bulldozing our ocean floor, undermining small-scale fisheries and deepening the climate crisis.

Hi, I am Nikki Spil, born and bred in North Holland. As a kid, and still today, I like nothing more than to cycle through the dunes at the end of the day,
have a picnic with the sand between my toes and watch the sun go down on the beach. I get so much from being by the sea and I want it to remain a treasured place for future generations.
I have studied sustainability and how to apply it to the design and development of new products which I apply to my work as architect specialising in the design of sustainable buildings. That said, my greatest passion which I jump out of bed for, remains growing seaweed and by far the best thing that I have ever built is a seaweed farm.

He represents a group of small-scale coastal fisheries. They have been asking for a level playing field for years, but the government has not listened to them. The aquatic resources belong to all of us but not for the enrichment of a few. Subsidies are focused on large industrial-scale fishing, instead of focusing on better and less harmful practices.

Naomi Grant is a personal, motivating, sometimes shocking, teaching and always honest writing performer. She likes to talk about topics that people don't like to talk about. Her uninhibited attitude has already brought her to places such as IFFR Black Rebels, 3FM, the Rotterdam and Amsterdam Schouwburg, Mag het licht aan festival, ABN Amro and the Bijenkorf.
Naomi also likes to take on the challenge by summarizing an event in spoken word live, such as the LGBTQI+ talk show FRESH, or by writing a personal text for a birthday, pregnancy, or employee of the year. Her lyrics encourage reflection and dialogue because Naomi thinks “To heal the world, we first have to heal ourselves” (Michael Jackson).
In addition to writing and performing herself, Naomi also gives creative writing workshops for (mainly) young people between 12 and 21 years old. She thinks it is important that young people learn to express themselves in a creative way at an early age. She has noticed that it gives young people more self-confidence and makes it easier to talk about taboo subjects.
